Bar at the Biograph Branding

Client: Victory Gardens Theater

Victory Gardens is a Tony Award-winning theater in Chicago, dedicated to staging challenging plays and musicals, developing and producing new works, and cultivating an inclusive theater community, housed in the historic landmark Biograph Theater.

My branding work for Victory Gardens has taken some inspiration from the historic location, though in many cases altered to suit the more modern, forward-thinking image of the theater’s work (see: Victory Gardens Sans typeface, Victory Gardens logo system, Ignition Festival logo).

However, for the theater bar, I leaned more heavily into the historic Art Deco motif of the Biograph Theater, incorporating the outlined lettering of the 1933 neon marquee to compliment the bar’s increasing emphasis on classic cocktails.

Branding for the “Bar at the Biograph” is found across both print and digital menus across the theater lobby.
